A Boy Named Sue

I couldn't remember all the lyrics and I just kept repeating "Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer".  My dad said he was going to reach back and smack me if I said it one more time as he drove our family to Austin to spend the Summer with my grandparents.

My Grandfather, a dentist turned developer, at the time was building the Lago Vista community on Lake Travis. It was a memorable time for me and Johnny Cash's "A boy named Sue" was my sound track for the Summer of 1969 and the best thing this 9 year old had ever heard.

I think many people can relate that being good at something can be a blessing and a curse. For me, writing funny tongue-in-cheek songs is like breathing. But like many artists I'm cursed with the longing to create and be something different than what is easy and comes naturally.

I'm happy to say that I've cracked my creative mold and am very proud of my eclectic repertoire that not only includes songs that are influenced by humorous story tellers like Johnny Cash and Lyle Lovett but you will also hear some heartfelt love songs as well as songs that are in the realms of Americana, Reggae, Blues and Classic Country.
